Insulated tools are tools covered with insulating materials. Since they are capable of operation on live equipment or wires, they are used by mechanics who assemble and maintain electric automobiles or electrical workers who repair wiring on utility poles and electric rail cars. One of the typical insulated tools is the insulated screwdriver. Unlike regular screwdrivers, the blade is covered with an insulating sleeve, and some have rubber type grips. Additionally, there are also hand tools including wrenches, hammers and wire cutters with insulation. These tools are sometimes used together with electrical safety gear, such as insulating gloves.
