Blocking is possible - even with a slight displacement - if the cam follower makes contact within the range of the oblique portion of the V groove.

    These Terms and any disputes arising in connection therewith shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to its conflicts of law principles. The courts located in Frankfurt am Main/Germany shall have exclusive jurisdiction to adjudicate any dispute arising in connection with these Terms. By downloading the Data, you agree to submit to the exclusive and personal jurisdiction of the courts located in Frankfurt am Main/Germany.

Selection Criteria for Main Components

  • Cylinder that has a thrust greater than the load transmitted from the V groove oblique face of the platens is selected.

Design Evaluation

Verification of main components

  • The positioning cylinder is selected based on the load condition.
    • If we assume the number of platens that need to be blocked among transferred platens as 2, the load F in the transfer direction is.
      F = 49N x 2 pieces x conveyor friction coefficient μ
      = 49 x 2 x 0.5 = 49N
    • The component force F' (perpendicular to transfer direction) to push the blocking cylinder via the V groove oblique face on the platens is
      F' = Fsinθcosθ
      where, θ: "V groove angle"/2°
    • Therefore,
      F' = 49 x sin60 x cos60 = 21.2N
      If we use 3 as the safety factor, a thrust of 21.2 x 3 = 63.6N is required.
    • Hence, according to the theoretical thrust graph in the catalogue, a bore diameter of Ø16 that produces a thrust of approx. 60N is selected.
